Gall stones

Monica may have just developed a gallstone, poor thing, so she’s been pretty uncomfortable for a few days. This’ll be the first big test of the National Health Service for us. GPs seem to do very little: we had to got to an emergency room to get proper tests done. I’ll let everyone know how that turns out.

I’m in fine fettle, though blistered from happy mowing and chopping. We’d have hand-cut hay and firewood if it’d just stop raining for a bit!

The tree-planters are back, as promised, and aim to have our firewood coppices in by Christmas. Then we just have to wait seven years until we can light the first load.

The forest garden open day and community meeting went well. Now we have a group of volunteers and some design ideas to set out on this new project.

I hear Monica stirring so I must go get the kettle on.
